EXPO 2015 is open!
Today, 1st of May, world important event has started in just 40 minutes from Lake Maggiore!

Expo Milano 2015 is the Universal Exhibition that Milan, Italy, hosts from May 1 to October 31, 2015. Over this six-month period, Milan will become a global showcase where more than 140 participating countries will show the best of their technology that offers a concrete answer to a vital need: being able to guarantee healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone, while respecting the Planet and its equilibrium. In addition to the exhibitor nations, the Expo also involves international organizations, and expects to welcome over 20 million visitors to its 1.1 million square meters of exhibition area.

“Chocolate lake” in Arona
This weekend promises to be very sweet on Lake Maggiore as Arona holds several events on April 17, 18 and 19 dedicated to chocolate. During these three days from 9am till 19pm center of Arona (Piazza del Popolo) will be turned into an open air exhibition of chocolate with workshops, tasting, and lots of surprises.

The Representative of Novara and VCO Constantinian Order, Knight Andrea Padulazzi, and the Association of Chefs of Novara and VCO organize great charity gala ball at the Hotel Regina Palace to support the Department of Surgery of Hospitals of Verbania and Domodossola, booming in recent years under the guidance of Dr. Francesco Arceci and recognized among the centers of excellence in the treatment of cancer.
The initiative is to encourage the purchase of furniture and equipment for the operating room of the hospitals of Verbania and Domodossola, thus contributing to a more welcoming environments for hospital patients.
New ride for the brave ones on Lake Maggiore!
"Angel’s Flight": two minutes of adrenaline with a maximum speed of 120 km per hour over a valley overlooking Lake Maggiore will for sure attract many extreme lovers.

The plant will be installed on a mountain in the area between Colle (after Piancavallo) and Alpe Segletta in the town of Aurano. This project will be part of a series of initiatives related to development of the region.

Summer 2015 will put Lake Maggiore in the center of European aristocratic life as countess Beatrice Borromeo and Princess of Monaco's Caroline younger son Pierre Casiraghi are getting married on its shores. So long awaited words will be pronounced in the church of Isola Bella, then will be held an exclusive party in the castle of Angera. The exact day is still a mystery, some newspapers give for certain the date of 1 August for the wedding, others report middle of April.

A Farewell To Arms: Hemingway’s Italy
Although Hemingway is most commonly associated with Florida’s Key West, Spain and Cuba, the latter serving as inspiration for his Nobel Prize Winning novella The Old Man and the Sea, Hemingway also had a long, and sometimes painful, relationship with Italy. In 1918, as war raged in Europe, an 18 year old Ernest Hemingway responded to a plea for ambulance drivers on the Italian front, and left for Europe. He arrived in Milan and immediately received a baptism of fire when he was sent to the scene of a bombed munitions factory to collect "the fragments" of female workers. A scene he vividly described years later in his book Death in the Afternoon.
